Need instructions for a vintage 1980s LEGO space set

User submitted LEGO build for identification: Need instructions for a vintage 1980s LEGO space set

I found my old LEGO space set from the mid-1980s in my parents' attic. It has blue and gray pieces with transparent yellow windshield elements. I think it might be from the Classic Space theme. I can't find the set number anywhere on the pieces. Is there a way to get instructions for a set this old? LEGO.com doesn't seem to have instructions from the 80s.

Actually, LEGO.com does have instructions going back to the 1960s! But you need the set number to search. Based on your description — blue/gray with yellow transparent windshields — this sounds like it could be the Galaxy Explorer (928 or 497 depending on region) or the Cosmic Cruiser (6890). Try BrickLink.com and search the Classic Space category — they have photos of every set and you can visually match yours.
