Editorial Standards

What we publish, how we write it, and how we handle corrections.

Our Commitment to Accuracy

Every piece of information on LegoFinder should be accurate and verifiable. For set data (piece counts, release years, themes), we cite our sources — primarily Rebrickable and official LEGO documentation. Where uncertainty exists (e.g., piece count variations across production runs, or approximate build times), we say so explicitly rather than presenting estimates as facts.

For AI-generated set identification, we consistently disclose that AI is not infallible and advise users to verify results. We do not overstate the tool's accuracy.

What We Publish

Set pages

Each of the 16,800+ set pages presents sourced data plus programmatically generated editorial content (build profiles, FAQ, use cases, build tips). The generated content is rules-based and deterministic — not AI-written. See our methodology page for details.

Guides and articles

Buying guides, how-to articles, and thematic content are researched and written by the LegoFinder editorial team. We cross-reference multiple sources, include practical recommendations based on direct experience, and update content when our understanding of a topic changes.

Community content

The community identification section allows users to post identification requests and receive answers. Community posts are moderated for spam, abuse, and misleading content. We do not editorially verify community answers — readers should apply their own judgment.

What We Don't Do

  • We don't sell LEGO sets — LegoFinder is a reference and tool site. We link to official sources and secondary marketplaces but are not a retailer.
  • We don't host instruction PDFs — Building instructions are hosted on LEGO.com and we link directly there. We do not reproduce copyrighted LEGO instruction content.
  • We don't fabricate data — Piece counts, release years, and theme classifications are sourced from Rebrickable. We do not invent or estimate values without disclosing that they are estimates.
  • We don't take paid placement — No set, theme, or guide is promoted because of a commercial relationship. Advertising (Google AdSense) appears separately and does not influence editorial decisions.

Corrections Policy

We correct factual errors promptly when they are reported or discovered. For set data errors (wrong piece count, incorrect year, wrong theme), we update the dataset and the affected page. For editorial errors in guides and articles, we correct the text and note the change at the bottom of the affected page where appropriate.

To report an error, use the contact form and include the set number or page URL, the incorrect information, and the correct information with a source if available.

Advertising Disclosure

LegoFinder displays advertising through Google AdSense. Advertisements are served automatically based on page content and visitor context. We do not have direct control over which specific ads appear. Advertising revenue supports the site's running costs.

Advertising does not influence set data, editorial content, or recommendations. Sponsored content, if we ever publish it, will be clearly labeled as such.
