How LegoFinder Works
From photo to instructions in seconds. Here's what happens when you use our AI-powered LEGO identification tool.
Upload Your Photo
Take a photo of your LEGO set, box, or assembled model, or select an existing photo from your device. You can drag and drop the image or click to browse. We accept JPG, PNG, WEBP, and HEIC formats. The image is automatically compressed for fast processing while keeping enough detail for accurate identification.
AI Analyzes the Image
Your photo is processed by our AI vision system, which uses multiple models working together. The primary model specializes in LEGO set recognition and has been trained on thousands of official set images. If the primary model is uncertain, a secondary AI model provides additional analysis. The system examines colors, shapes, unique pieces, sticker designs, and overall build patterns to find the best match.
Get Your Results
If the AI is confident, you get an immediate match with the set name, number, and image. If multiple sets look similar, you'll see a grid of the top candidates — just click the one that looks right. Either way, the process takes just a few seconds.
Download Instructions
Once the set is identified, we automatically search for the official LEGO building instructions PDF. We check multiple sources including the official LEGO database, Rebrickable, and other community resources. If the instructions are available, you can download the PDF directly. Some larger sets have multiple instruction booklets — we'll show them all.
Tips for Best Results
Identifying Individual Parts
LegoFinder also includes a dedicated LEGO Part Identifier. This tool works similarly — just photograph a single LEGO piece on a plain background, and the AI will tell you:
- The official LEGO part number
- The part name and category
- Color identification
- Links to buy replacements on BrickLink and Rebrickable
