I'm getting an upload error or my photo is rejected

Short answer

Common causes of photo upload failures and how to fix them.

If you can't upload a photo or the upload fails, try these fixes in order.

Check the file format

LegoFinder accepts JPG, JPEG, PNG, WEBP, and HEIC images. Other formats (RAW, BMP, TIFF, GIF) won't work. If your photo is in an unsupported format, open it in your phone's photo app and re-save it as JPG.

Check the file size

Very large files (40+ megapixels uncompressed) may fail to upload over slow connections. The site automatically compresses images before upload, but extremely large source files can still be slow. If a large photo fails, take a new one at lower resolution or use your phone's "small" or "medium" share size when sending.

Check your connection

An interrupted upload usually shows up as a stalled progress bar or a generic error. If you're on cellular data with a weak signal, try switching to Wi-Fi. If you're on Wi-Fi, try refreshing the page and retrying.

Refresh the page

Browser tabs that have been open for a long time can develop stale connections. Refreshing the page (or closing and reopening the tab) clears the state and almost always lets the next upload succeed.

Try a different browser

If uploads consistently fail in one browser, try another. Browser extensions (especially aggressive ad blockers or privacy tools) can sometimes interfere with file uploads.

Still stuck?

If none of the above works, send us a message via the contact form. Include:

  • The browser you're using and its version.
  • Whether you're on mobile or desktop.
  • The exact error message (if any).
  • The approximate file size of the photo.

We read every report and use them to improve the upload flow.
